** Capt. (later Maj.) I.D. Stins was the last officer to be commissioned in the Regiment during the 20th century and 2Lt. (later Lt.) G.L. Höll was the first officer to be commissioned in the Regiment in the 21st century.

*** Lt. L.C. McDuling & Lt. E.M. Bodley had been the first of the 1946 recruits to be commissioned as officers.

 **** C/Sgt. W. van Kerkhoven subsequently became OC of the SA Irish Regiment.
